Facebook’s FbStart program for developers has finally announced FbStart Apps of the Year winners. The list includes winners as well as some new benefits for developers and names of new partners.

Facebook started FbStart program during F8 in May, 2014.

Within 2 years, program has grown to over 9,000 members from 137 countries.

Ime Archibong, Strategic Partner Manager at FbStart program, posted in a blog entry the names of new FbStart apps partners. Main includes Amazon, DocSend, and Pitchbook. FbStart Social Good section added M4 Global Partners, ChangeCorp, and Phone2Action.

Archibong also assured that FbStart will soon begin monthly office hours service or online access to multiple Facebook teams for startup developers. It will help developers better learn to build products using Facebook’s developer tools and tackle the challenges.

Facebook will announce FbStart apps in the following cities-

June – Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; Gurgaon, India; Bangalore, India; Jakarta, Indonesia; and Hong Kong

July – New York, Boston, Chicago, and Toronto

August – Mexico City; and Bogota, Colombia

September – Seattle, Los Angeles, and San Francisco

October – Sao Paulo and Miami

November – Amsterdam; Berlin; Cape Town, South Africa; London; Dubai, Unit Arab Emirates; Lisbon, Portugal; Paris; Tel Aviv, Israel; and Istanbul.

Archibong further provided details on the winners of 2016 FbStart apps of the year contest. A reputed panel of technology experts decided the winners. Experts include jury from Andreessen Horowitz, GitHub, Facebook, Saavn, and ChangeCorp .

Grand-prize for the winner stood at $50, 000 in cash and a $50, 000 in Facebook ad credits. Other winners received a $5,000 each in cash and $7,500 in Facebook ad credits.

Winners of Facebook’s FbStart Apps of the Year as mentioned by Archibong:

App of the Year – Winner of App of the Year is VoiceTube for iOS and Android. VoiceTube is a Taiwan-based app to help learn English through videos. A married couple Richard Zenn and Carol Lai, founded the app. VoiceTube features over 30, 000 videos. The app also packs additional features like bilingual subtitles, sentence repetition, online dictionary, and recording.

Zenn says the idea behind video platform came up because of more emphasis on reading and writing English in education in Taiwan than listening and speaking.

Latin America App of the Year – App of the Year in Latin America is Emprego Ligado for Android platform. Emprego Ligado is a mobile-based app for recruitment centered on blue-collar job sector in Brazil. The app has served millions of interviews for Brazilian workers. Around 18 percent of customers get a job offer on very first day of signing up for the app.

Europe, Middle East and Africa App of the Year – Musixmatch for iOS and Android. The Italy-based app is a crowd-sourced lyrics catalog. It syncs directly with a wide array of apps. Musixmatch features lyrics in multiple languages.

Social Good App of the Year – The winner of this category is MedShr for iOS and Android platform. MedShr is a London-based app. It acts as a global platform for doctors to connect with each other. Doctors worldwide can discuss clinical and medical cases in a secure place. Asif Qasim, a London cardiologist, founded the app. Doctors in European migrant camps used the app for Syrian refugees.

North America App of the Year – RadPad came up as the winner of FbStart apps of the Year in North America. Made for Android and iOS, the Los Angeles-based app lets you easily discover an apartment for rent. It’s more secure and social. You can even rent or sublet a room in your apartment with RadPad. The app also offers pay rent via the app feature.

So these are the winners of the FbStart apps of the year contest. Apps are based from different countries for iOS and Android platforms. FbStart program is a great boost for developer worldwide. Winners of 2016 FbStart apps of the Year seems to add more stars to the glory of the event.
