What is a Cache?
To install small-sized Android apps you require to download only a single APK file. However, if you are looking forward to installing bigger apps, especially games, you will need to download some additional files to complete the installation process. These additional files are called Cache.
Why do we need Cache?
Some Android apps are very big in size (up to several GBs) and their installation may take a lot of time. Hence, we need some additional files known as Cache to complete the installation process effectively. The Cache includes graphics, maps and other files compressed in .obb format.
How to install games with Cache
Part 1: Downloading files
Generally, HD games with Cache aren’t available on the App Store. Perhaps you have to download them from other websites. Some of the popular websites for Cache are playmob.org and apk4fun.com. Downloading Cache files from these websites require:
Step 1 – Launch a web browser on your Android.
Launch a web browser on your Android. You can launch any browser: Chrome, Opera, UC, or any other you have on your phone.
Step 2 – Search for the game you want
In the search bar, enter the name of the game you want to install. For example, if you want to install AirFighters Pro, just type the name of the game followed by apk download. Hit Enter on the on-screen keyboard or tap on the the magnifying glass icon on the screen to begin the search.
Step 3 – Select a website to download the game from
The search result will show several sites to choose from, like play.mob.org or apps2apk.com, and a lot more. Tap on a particular website to access its download page for the game you are searching for.
Step 4 – Locate the “Download” button
Once you’re on the download page, the next thing you need to do is find the Download button. Most of the sites have the Download button near the bottom of the page. So scroll down until you find the Download button.
Step 5 – Read the instructions
Generally, for games with Cache, the website will provide some basic instructions regarding the download and installation of the game. So we recommend you to go through the instructions at least once before you proceed.
Step 6 – Download the files
Once you have gone through all the instructions, tap the Download button to start downloading the files. The files are usually downloaded as a compressed file (zip or rar) into the Download folder of your device.
Gentle Reminder: Sometimes you have to download both the apk file and the obb file separately. In such case, you have to locate and tap on the Download button for both the files individually.
Part 2: Installing the game
Once you are done with the download process, installation is quite easy. However, the tricky part is here: if any step goes wrong, the game will not run and you will need to download the Cache file again. To install the game, you need to follow some simple steps mentioned below:
Step 1 – Open your device’s file explorer
Every device has a pre-installed file explorer app. Locate it on the home screen of your smartphone and tap to launch it.
Step 2 – Locate the apk file
The downloaded apk file will be present in the Download/Downloads folder of your device. Use the file explorer to locate the apk file.
Step 3 – Extract the Files
In case you have downloaded a zip or rar file, you will need to extract it. Most of the explorers come with a built-in archiver. In order to explore the file:
Long press the compressed file, and select Extract
The explorer will extract the file to the Download folder.
Gentle Reminder: In case your explorer doesn’t have an archiver, you can download a suitable one from Google Play Store. There are many extractors like RAR for Android and B1 Free Archiver on the Play Store.
Step 4 – Install the game
Once you have successfully extracted the files, tap the APK file to begin the installation of the game. You will be shown all the permissions needed on the screen first, read them and scroll down, then tap Install.
Once the game is installed, a message will display Installation successful. Press Done at the bottom of the screen to exit the window.
Step 5 – Copy the obb file into the Android Data folder
Open the file explorer again to navigate to the Downloads folder. Locate the obb folder of the game and copy it to the Android Data folder. For this:
- Long press the obb folder to select it. Once selected, tap the three-dot icon at the top-right to open the menu. From the menu, select Copy.
- Now navigate to Device Storage > Android > Obb and select Paste here to paste the obb folder.
After you uninstall the game, the obb folder gets deleted automatically. So, we recommend you to copy the obb folder to save a backup for later. Otherwise, you will have to download the Cache file again the next time you install the game.
Step 6 – Run the game
The game’s icon will be added to your home screen. Tap it to launch the game.
Congratulations! You have successfully installed the game. So it’s time to play the game you love and enjoy a thrilling HD gaming experience.
Stay tuned for more updates.
