Apple’s iOS 10 comes with dozens of new features and enhancements. But unfortunately, like any other major iOS software update, it has its own set of issues. One of the major problems users are facing is WiFi connectivity issues, making their iPad unable to connect to WiFi. 1. What to Do When Your iPad Won’t Connect to WiFi

Most common iPad connection issues can be easily fixed by following some simple steps given below:

  • Move Closer to Your Router – If you’re too far from your router, the WiFi signal strength may not be strong enough for your iPad to connect to WiFi.
  • Ensure the WiFi network is Running – Before wasting too much time on troubleshooting why your iPad is having connectivity issues, make sure that it’s actually the device that has the problem. You can use your desktop, laptop, or smartphone to connect to the network and check if your router is working.
  • Remove Any Case or Covering from Your iPad – In case your iPad is having any case or covering, it’s good to remove it while following troubleshooting actions. Although this probably won’t fix the problem, any obstruction can cause the signal to lose its strength.
  • Verify the Password – If you’re being asked to connect to a network and you keep on getting denied after entering the password, then verify that you’re typing the right password. Some passwords can be lengthy and complex and it’s easy to mistake a ‘B’ character with ‘8’ or an ‘O’ with ‘0’.

2. Troubleshooting Your iPad’s Network Settings


Now, it’s time for checking some of the basic network settings. However, first of all, make sure that it’s not a public network that is causing the issue.

If you’re connecting to a public WiFi hotspot such as at a café, you may need to agree to terms and conditions. On the other hand, if you’re connecting to your home network, navigate to the Settings menu on your iPad and ensure that everything is set up okay.

In the Settings menu, the first setting you have to check is Airplane Mode. It should be turned off. In case it is on, you’ll be unable to connect to WiFi network.

Afterward, tap on the WiFi option just below Airplane Mode. It’ll show you WiFi settings. Here’re a few things you need to check:

  • WiFi Mode is On – If WiFi is disabled, you’ll not be able to connect to your WiFi network.
  • Ask to Join Networks is On – In case you’re not being prompted to join the network, then the Ask to Join Networks option must be off. The easiest solution to fix iPad connection is to turn it on again.
  • Are You Adding a Hidden or Closed Network? –  By default, most of the WiFi connections are either private or public. However, a WiFi network can be hidden or closed that will not broadcast the name of your iPad’s network.

3. Reset iPad’s WiFi Connection


Once you’ve verified that all the network settings are correct, it’s time to begin troubleshooting WiFi connection itself.

In order to reset your iPad’s WiFi connection, go to the Settings > WiFi section and toggle the switch to the right to turn WiFi off. Next, simply turn it on again. This will alllow your iPad to search for a WiFi network and rejoin again.

4. Reset Your iPad

Rebooting of an iPad is pretty simple and takes only a few minutes to complete. In order to reset your iPad, hold the Sleep/Wake button at the top for some time until a bar appears on the screen saying you to ‘slide to power off’.

Once you slide the bar, your iPad will show a dashed circle before finally shutting down completely. Now, wait for a few seconds and then hold the Sleep/Wake button again to start the iPad back up.

5. Restart the Router


Just like you restart your iPad, you can also restart the router to fix iPad WiFi connection issues. In order to restart a router, simply turn it off for a few seconds and then power it back on.

6. Forget the Network


If you’re still having iPad WiFi connection issues, then you need to change some settings on your device. Go to the Settings > WiFi section.

Once you’re on the WiFi networks screen, tap on the blue button next to the network name. It will take you to a screen having settings for this individual network. All you need to do is just tap on the Forget this Network button at the top of the screen to fix iPad WiFi connection issues. You’ll be asked to verify this action. Select Forget to verify it.

7. Reset the Network Settings on Your iPad


If you’re still having any WiFi connectivity issues, you can reset your iPad’s network settings. Though this step will fully flush all the stored settings on your device, it can fix iPad WiFi connection issues when the above methods are unable to solve the problem.

To reset the network settings on your iPad, navigate to the Settings menu and choose the General option from the available list. Next, tap on the Reset Network Settings option. It will cause your iPad to clear everything it knows.

8. Update the Router’s Firmware


Another solution to fix iPad WiFi issues is to update the router’s firmware. Make sure that your router has the latest firmware installed on it.
