When it comes to social media platforms, Snapchat continues to rule among teens. And there’s hardly anyone who hasn’t given a try to this photo-sharing app. There were times when it turned down a $3Bn buyout offer from Facebook. But nowadays, it seems like stars aren’t in the favor of Snapchat. Since Instagram has won millions of hearts, so many users are uninstalling the app by saying sorry Snapchat, it’s time to say goodbye.
Snapchat first came in the market with its controversial disappearing messages in December 2013. The concept was skeptical, but at the same time, intrigued. So naturally, users went to the Google Play Store or App Store and downloaded the app. Although some users were unsure what to expect, due to its billing, they still had high expectations.
Talking about my own experience with the Snapchat app, when I opened it for the first time, I had no words – but not in a good way. I spent over half an hour trying to navigate its unconventional user interface. But once I figured it out properly and sent my first disappearing photo, I knew it was going to live up to its hype.

But now, I am also saying sorry Snapchat, it’s time to say goodbye to you as it is eating around 460MB space in my phone. Snapchat is continuously making amendments in its app to keep its lead in the market. Last month, it added voice filters, backdrops, and more to retain its popularity.
However, it didn’t help the company much as some recent reports stated that brands post more Instagram stories than Snapchat. Instagram Stories has come a long way. It just looked like a Snapchat’s clone at first, but the thing is – it compelled users to choose a side.
Would you say goodbye Snapchat? Or take an Instagram Story and show your followers and the people scrolling through the Discover page?
Well, it’s totally up to you. If you love to use to the yellow little ghost, you’ll never say goodbye to your friends on Snapchat, right? But if you’re really annoyed by its massive 460MB space on your phone, you’ll definitely feel that it’s time to say goodbye Snapchat.
Here’re some key stats, which can help you decide whether to say ‘sorry Snapchat’ or not? Let’s have a look:
- Snapchat opens have decreased by at least 15% for influencers
- There are 28% higher open rates on Instagram Stories than Snapchat for marketing platforms
- 40% decrease in the average unique viewers per Snapchat Story
- Influencers post 25% more on Instagram Stories than Snapchat
However, this shouldn’t come as a surprise. If we see the basic difference between the two, Snapchat is for friends and Instagram is for the world.
