iOS 11 is finally going to launch this month with a swathe of new features along with some biggest changes. The iPhone maker is all set to showcase the latest version of its mobile operating system. In this article, we’ll shed some light on some new iOS 11 features that iPhone and iPad users will be excited to know about. Let’s explore them all one by one.
New iOS 11 Features
Revamped App Store
Apple will redesign its App Store with an all-new interface, which is similar to Apple Music and Apple News. The App Store is revamped to make discovering apps and games easier than ever before. The new layout will highlight one new app every day and has finally dedicated a separate tab for games. Amazing! In addition, in-app purchases will show up on an app product page and in search results.
Live Photos will be Much Better
Now you can make your live photos into GIFs, which you can make a bounce back and forth. In addition, you can finally choose which still frame of the Live Photo is the standard image, making it simpler to find the perfect moment to share on social media networks.

Apple iOS natively adds the functionality to record the smartphone’s screen and save the resulting video to the device’s camera roll. The feature is capable of recording external audio. You can access this feature through Control Center.
Even though Android does not offer screen recording feature yet, many OEMs include the feature in their smartphones via custom UI layers.
Do Not Disturb While Driving
The next feature among our list of new iOS 11 features is Do Not Disturb mode while you drive. Apple has added the most useful feature that triggers Do Not Disturb mode when the iPhone is in the car to hide notifications for texts, calls, and other apps while you’re driving. The feature can also notify others that you are driving and will contact them soon.
Type to Siri
One of the most impressive features of iOS 11 is that it allows its users to type queries to Siri instead of just speaking them. Apple says Siri is going to get much more advanced through machine learning and artificial intelligence.
For activating Type to Siri, all you need to do is just navigate to General Settings and select the Type to Siri option. It’s worth noting that iOS 10 also allows questions to be typed to Siri. But to do this, one needs to tap on a previously spoken query and then edit it. It’s not clear whether these changes would make Siri better to use, but Apple has made Siri sound a bit less robotic and more natural like Amazon’s Alexa Assistant.
Screenshot and Markup
Until now, after taking a screenshot on an iPhone, you have been required to navigate to the Photos section to view the screenshot. But, Apple has now changed this setting with the launch of iOS 11.
Once a screenshot is captured, a miniature version of it is shown in the bottom-left corner of your phone’s screen. You can directly tap on it and edit it according to your choice.
With iOS 11, you can enable one-handed mode for the default keyboard. You’ll be able to use the keyboard with one hand — just hold the emoji key and select one-handed typing to move all the keys closer to your thumb. The feature will be best suited for large-sized iPhones such as iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6 Plus, and iPhone 7 Plus.
To enable this feature, you can long-press on the globe icon to the left of the Space bar, which will then list both left and right configuration of the keyboard.
WiFi Password Sharing
The new version of iOS also makes it simpler for users to share their WiFi passwords with other iOS devices. The only thing is that all of them should be running iOS 11.
There is a simple method to communicate WiFi passwords over-the-air to non-connected devices. All you need to do is bring the target device, the one that is to be connected to WiFi, close to the WiFi connected device. While doing this, the first device will display a pop-up message saying that a new device is trying to connect to the network. With a single tap, the password can be sent to the other device.

3D Touch Integration
With iOS 11, Apple is expanding the integration of its 3D Touch technology within apps like iMessage and Safari. The new operating system allows you to switch between tabs in Safari, share URLs in messages, as well as look up quick notifications of highlighted phrases or words.
Smart Invert can reverse the color of the entire display except for images, other media and some apps that use dark color schemes. It should be noted that this feature does not replace the Invert Color functionality that is already available in iOS 10.
Change Tracks on AirPods
At present, AirPods users can only change tracks on their iOS devices. With the help of Siri, users can double tap on an AirPod and issue a voice command. But, iOS 11 makes this process a much simpler.
Using the new OS, you can customize Bluetooth settings on the AirPods to configure direct skip and forward gestures with double taps on both AirPods.
iCloud Family Storage Plans
In case you and your family members have multiple Apple devices and use them to share media such as photos and videos then it does not make any sense for each member to have their own iCloud storage plan. Fortunately, new iOS 11 features make it possible to have shared iCloud storage plans. The common iCloud storage plan can be shared between six members of a family. And this can be done without having to incur any extra cost on a monthly basis.
So these were some of the new iOS 11 features your iPhone will get after installing the latest operating system.
