WhatsApp’s experiments with new features keep on going, and this time it is the audio calls that have been revamped. A new feature, Group Audio Calls, has been added to WhatsApp beta version 2.18.60 for iOS users. Only select users are testing this feature on their iOS devices and once successful, WhatsApp Group Audio Call feature will be rolled out to all iOS users.
WABetaInfo tweeted, first, about this feature:
WhatsApp for iOS 2.18.60: group audio calls UI.[AVAILABLE FOR A FEW USERS ONLY.. PLEASE WAIT]
Interestingly, news about the same WhatsApp Group Audio Call feature was also spotted on Android beta last year but hasn’t made its way to the stable app so far. As per reports, the basic functionality will be the same for both Android and iOS apps. Let’s see when the feature appears on both builds.
Sadly, details about the feature are not yet made available, like how many participants can enter the group chat. Once the testing phase competes, users will be able to use this feature on their device.

Additionally, one more feature is added to this version of WhatsApp iOS beta, namely “Request Account Info” which allows users to request for their account information and Settings. It does not, however, cover messages as they are end-to-end encrypted and not even WhatsApp can read them.
Besides iOS, WhatsApp is also rolling out a new feature for its Android beta latest version. It’s called “Select all” feature will let users select all messages. They can, then mark these messages as read or unread, archive them, and even delete all chat threads instantly.
With WhatsApp introducing new features at this pace, it’s sure that the Facebook-owned app is determined to keep at the top of the pyramid for long even when both its original co-founders have left the app. Let’s see what comes next. Till then, make the most of the new features.
