Fix: Common MacBook Problems
Does your Mac fail to boot properly? Do you often find yourself staring at a blank or gray startup screen rather than your desktop? If the answer to all these questions is in a big yes, it’s time to try booting in the Safe Mode. In this mode, MacOS will boot with the bare minimum of drivers and software required and will run a check on your startup disk, repairing any directory problems that might be the cause of your startup ills.
In order to startup in the Safe Mode, start your Mac and press and hold the Shift key. Release the key once you see the Apple logo followed by the login screen. However, the login screen may take a few minutes to appear as MacOS runs its diagnostics on your hard disk. If you want to exit the Safe Mode and startup your device per usual, you need to restart your Mac without holding any keys.
Incomplete Login Items
In case you find yourself just looking at a blue screen while starting up your Mac, it means that one of your startup items is not complete with MacOS. With a little trial and error method, you can find out which app is the culprit.
To fix this one of the most common MacBook problems, remove login items and start up your machine after each removal. All you need to do is just navigate to System Preferences > Users & Groups and click on your name at the left side under Current User. Afterward, click on the Login Items tab. Select an app and click on the minus sign to remove it from the Login Items list. Continue the removal process until you find the culprit.

This is one of the most common MacBook problems that has made people scratch their heads. When an app hangs, your whole world suddenly freezes, letting you do nothing. Use Force Quit. Click on the Apple icon in the top-left corner or hit Command-Option-Escape to call up the Force Quit menu. Now, select the app that’s not responding and click on the Force Quit button.
Spinning Beach Ball
In case you’re seeing the spinning beach ball on a regular basis, look at what might be causing the slowdown. Launch the Activity Monitor to see how much of an impact the apps you’re currently running have on system resources. You can also use it to close an app that’s using more than its fair share of resources. All you need to do is simply select the app, click on the X button at the top-right side, and then click on the Quit or Force Quit.
No Internet Connection
Sometimes your Mac can’t connect to the WiFi network. The easiest and fastest fix to this one of the most annoying MacBook problems is to forget the network and then reconnect as if it was brand new. To do so, go to the Network page in System Preferences, click on the Advanced button and you’ll see a list of Preferred Networks. These are the WiFi connections you’ve connected to formerly. Choose your WiFi network and click on the minus sign. Next, select the Remove button to forget it. With your network removed and forgotten, click on the WiFi icon in the menu bar and reconnect to your network by entering your password.
