Accidentally deleted your important WhatsApp messages? Android users can, fortunately, recover WhatsApp Messages as the giant instant messenger brings a new feature in its latest update to help Android users recover deleted messages in an instant. Earlier, the media file you used to download using the app got removed once and for all when the download completed. However, now you can easily retrieve such files.
The latest feature seems pretty useful as it enables you to kinda undo your previous action. Whether you have deleted someone’s picture accidentally or removed a text message intentionally; there’s no trouble in retrieving such files now. All you need is the latest WhatsApp version 2.8.113. Besides, make sure you still have the sender’s message available on your app.
The news about this latest update was informed by WABetaInfo that cheered users by telling that they can now download a deleted WhatsApp text message, picture, GIF, audio, video, and document from the WhatsApp server.
As per the reports, this feature was rolled over in the recent WhatsApp updates between the app versions 2.18.106 and 2.18.110. The feature has also been verified to work on the WhatsApp version 2.18.113. However, users need to keep in mind that they cannot download the media files that are too old. In the case of such files, they will have to ask the sender to send the files again.
Interestingly, the feature has another side (which can be a security flaw). If a user can download deleted files on WhatsApp, this means the file is stored on the server even after it was once downloaded. Earlier, the un-downloaded media files were stored on its server for 30 days. When the user downloaded such a file, it was deleted. But now, WhatsApp doesn’t seem to remove this data from its server for long.
A thing worth noting is that the information of this new feature has come in the wake of Facebook security scandal. Recently, WhatsApp was also criticized for security and privacy flaws. However, the company calmed users by declaring that their chats are secured with end-to-end encryption. Not even WhatsApp can read or listen to such conversations, letting alone other users to do such a thing.

So, don’t trash these chats if you think you’d need its messages later in future. All said, now head to the app on your Android to recover WhatsApp messages. Once in, open the chat thread that contains your desired media file (be it a picture, audio, video, document or even a text message).
