Netgear WiFi range extenders are easy to set up, configure, and manage. You can install the device on your own by going through simple procedures that we have provided in this article.

These wireless extenders come with a comprehensive manual guide that includes the complete process. However, if you want to learn things in an easier language, this post provides you what you’re looking for. The first thing is to know about the terms that are connected with the device and its setup. Netgear extenders are configured through the NETGEAR Genie setup page. You can also use the 192.168.1.250 IP address or mywifiext.net URL address to do the same. Just enter the IP or URL address in the browser and start the setup procedure.

Whichever way you choose, the installation takes similar easy steps. Furthermore, you can choose from two ways to set up your new WiFi extender.

  • Manual Method
  • WPS Method

Here’s the detail of how you can perform extender installation by using either of the ways provided below.

  1. Manual Method

If your WiFi extender model doesn’t come with an Ethernet port, the best way is to set up your Netgear extender manually in this way.

  • Open your laptop or PC and launch a web browser
  • Enter into the URL address www.mywifiext.net. You can also enter into 192.168.1.250 if you want
  • Check the box in which your WiFi extender came. Here, you will find default login credentials, i.e. username and password. Type in these credentials in the field provided for this info
  • Click New Extender Setup
  • Select your desired router and click Next

Once the process finishes, your WiFi extender will be connected with the WiFi network of your choice.

If your device has an Ethernet port, choose this manual method.

  • Power on the extender and connect it with your computer with the help of an Ethernet cable
  • Head to the URL address www.mywifiext.net or 192.168.1.250 (any one of your choice)
  • Provide login details which are written on your WiFi extender box
  • Go to Wireless Settings
  • Provide the password that you use for your router

This method also connects WiFi extenders with a WiFi network. The only difference is that the later one uses an Ethernet cable.

  1. WPS Method

WPS or WiFi Protected Setup is a push and connects system that lets a user integrate their wireless extender with a WiFi network in a faster and more convenient manner. All you need is the help of one single button.

  • During the setup process keep your router and extender in the same room
  • Power on both the devices
  • Connect your Netgear wireless extender with your computer
  • Open a browser in your computer
  • Access www.mywifiext.net
  • Click New Extender Setup
  • Select the router of your desire from the list
  • Click Continue
  • Log into your Netgear extender
  • Follow the steps provided on the next screens and you’re done

Once your wireless connection is established, you can take the WiFi booster to any room and keep it there. Now, enjoy improving network coverage throughout the house.
